Information checked on 3 October 2026 against the organiser's website; the organiser's information prevails.
Exhibitek Displays is an independent stand builder: not the organiser of MWC Barcelona and not one of its official contractors. The name and logo belong to GSMA.
What a stand at MWC Barcelona has to handle
MWC Barcelona, formerly Mobile World Congress, is the GSMA’s exhibition and conference for the mobile and connectivity industries. Operators, infrastructure vendors, device makers, chip designers, cloud and cybersecurity firms and enterprise buyers share the floor, while the 4YFN start-up event enters through the venue’s North Access.
The show fills the whole of Gran Via, from Hall 1 to both levels of Hall 8, plus Congress Square and the Upper Walkway. Heights, floor loads and rigging capacity change from hall to hall, so your hall shapes the design before any branding does.
We plan an MWC stand as a working building: demo points with clean power and network, closed meeting rooms, team storage and a frontage that explains the product from the aisle. Our custom exhibition stands are engineered around that mix.
Engineering notes for an MWC Barcelona stand
Power. The venue’s appointed electrical contractor connects and tests every stand. Service chests supply up to 63 A three-phase through CEE connectors, and larger loads are quoted separately. Package switchboards go live only on the weekend before opening, which is when LED walls and demos get tested.
Rigging. Points sit at least 1 m apart, within 15 kg per square metre of contracted space. Each takes 150 kg in Halls 1, 2, 5, 7, 8.0 and 8.1 or 250 kg in Halls 3, 4 and 6, hoist included, with six manual hoists per truss grid at most. Hung banners and ceilings must be part of the stand design.
Loads. The floor takes 5,000 kg/m² in Halls 2, 3, 4 and 6 but only 1,500 kg/m² in Hall 8.1, where double-deck columns must also stand at least 400 cm apart on 50 × 50 cm base plates. Heavy exhibits go on the drawings first.
Cabling. Nothing may be fixed into the hall floor, so cable routes for screens and servers run inside the stand’s platform or under its compulsory covering. We draw them in the first layout.

MWC stand rules to plan for
- Height. The manual’s rigging table gives 6 m in Halls 1 to 7, 5 m in Halls 8.0 and 8.1, 4 m in Congress Square and 3 m on the Upper Walkway, but its height page states a 5 m event maximum. The Technical Stand Plan for your space, confirmed by Abraxys, decides. No branding goes above 6 m.
- Open sides. At most half of any open side may be solid; walls up to 1.1 m count as open, and stepping walls back is refused. Backing onto a neighbour, you need your own wall of at least 2.5 m, plain white on the neighbour’s side above that height.
- Double decks. Only where the permitted height is at least 5 m, with the upper floor charged extra, built to the Spanish CTE code and certified by Graó Tècnic.
- Complex structures. Platforms over 50 cm, complex suspended structures, tiered seating and any stand over 100 square metres need full structural calculations, with walls and handrails rated for 1 kN/m.
- Materials. Nothing flammable, nothing that gives off heavy smoke. Fabrics must be Euroclass A1, A2 or B, Spanish M1 or a listed British class, with certificates on request.
- Floor. A covering is compulsory, fixed only with removable double-sided tape; nothing is screwed or painted into the hall.

From plot confirmation to opening day
- Plot confirmed. We read the construction rules and your hall’s own policy (Hall 2 hospitality, Hall 3 hybrid stands, the loading bay between Halls 5 and 7) and fix heights, open sides and power with you in writing.
- About 14 weeks before opening. The plan pack goes to Abraxys: English drawings at 1:50, material certificates, electrical and evacuation plans, rigging heights, risk assessment, method statement and waste plan. Contractor passes activate only after the Permission to Build.
- About 11 weeks before. Rigging projects reach the official rigging supplier; late orders cost more, and the earliest build-up days need them confirmed.
- Build-up. Start days follow stand size, from about two and a half weeks before the show for plots over 950 square metres to about nine days for the smallest. Our production and on-site build method finishes parts before they travel, so those days go on assembly.
- Final weekend. Deliveries, rigging and work at height end on Saturday evening; Sunday is for finishing, and show days allow no construction at all.
- Dismantling. On the closing evening only hand-carried valuables leave, loaded from car parks B and F; structures come down over the next five days.

MWC questions
Building a stand at MWC Barcelona: what exhibitors ask
Who checks MWC Barcelona stand plans?
Abraxys, the show’s plan-inspection agency, reviews every Space Only stand and custom-built meeting room and issues the Permission to Build. Graó Tècnic, the venue’s structural engineers, also reviews complex structures, and Abraxys checks on site that the build matches the approved plans.
Can we build a double-deck stand at MWC Barcelona?
Yes, where your space allows at least 5 m. The upper floor costs extra and needs a paid Graó Tècnic stability certificate and a double-deck safety form. Its capacity is set stand by stand, from two square metres per person, and posted at the stairs.
Can stand materials be shipped to the Fira Gran Via address?
No. The organiser states that neither the venue address nor the 4YFN North Access is a postal address, and shipments sent to either are refused. Materials come in during your build-up slots and must be on site before the Saturday cut-off; our guide to exhibition stands at Fira Gran Via covers access.
When does an MWC stand get power during build-up?
The current manual puts package switchboards live from 07:00 to 23:00 on the Saturday and Sunday before opening, then on show days. They are off earlier in build-up and during dismantling, so earlier or 24-hour power for servers is ordered separately from Servifira, Fira’s service company.
What happens to surplus stand materials after MWC?
Waste goes through Servifira, an outside contractor paying a logistics fee, or your own removal with a minimum of Servifira containers, and a Waste Patrol handover certificate is needed before leaving. A Donation Room takes reusable surplus, and on request we store parts for your next show. Timing and budget basics are in our exhibition stand FAQ.
